Chris B.

by Chris B.
(Michigan)

I just got my CDL A on 09/08/2010, I went through a local trucking company. I had my CDL B for about 10 years and did drive 28' box straight truck with a sleeper OTR for 2 years from 2000-2002.

I was able to pay $700 dollars for 9 hours of training and the use of a truck and trailer to get my CDL A. But that 9 hours is the extent of my experience with combination vehicles. I do have a current DOT medical card with no points.

I do have one accident in 2008 in my Ford F-150 a deer jumped out in front of me and I hit it, in order for my insurance company to pay the damages I had to make a police report, I have one operating while impaired in 2002, and a speeding ticket for 50 in a 40 back in 2004. I have no criminal record at all.

I am trying to find a company that will put me with a trainer so I can get some experience behind the wheel. If anyone has an advice for me I would really appreciate it. I live in Michigan.
