Almost Done

by Collin Barnette
(Visalia, Ca)

Well the days are ticking past and they have been busy. The routine at Truck Driving School has been pretty much the same for the past two weeks. First thing in the morning we split up into are groups on different trucks. We check the oil and water, do a walk around and get our day started. Some days those of us who are needing driving time, drive with the instructor and a few other students to another campus and the students who need to practice their skills of backing and other controlled moves. Other days it's out to the Shifting Range. The shifting range is any stretch of empty black top out in the country. We just turn on those four ways and start going up and down through the gears. This is importnt practice, you always want to be in the right gear for your speed and weight. Then we get practice driving in traffic, all kinds of traffic. We have been around town, on the freeways, out in the country and even up in the mountians. I am feeling pretty confident. I have even lost some of the bad habbits I had picked up over the years, like resting one hand on the gearshift all the time. I am very satisfied with my experience at truck driving school and cannot wait to put my skills to use on the road. I am still putiing together a pretrip inspection blog and will post it shortly for those of you who are interested.

Stay safe, I'll be back with more news.
