Lisa Godino Truck Driver/Singer Songwriter

by Lisa Godino
(P-Burg NJ)

Hi Ladies, my name is Lisa Godino. I been driving truck now for 23 years and still trucking. I like to share with you some of my experiences on the road and share with you how things have worked out for me over the years.

I am a local driver; New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, Delaware, Connecticut. I was a milk hauler (farm pick up) bulk hauler (food grade) I hauled liquid sugar, orange juice, hot asphalt ac-20 and hauled freight.

The job most dear to my heart that I miss terrible is when I work for guys that did land clearing.

My last boss cleared land, made mulch, chipped. I delivered mulch, I hauled his equipment around on a 55 foot low boy to job sites( I did not unload or load the machines the boss did). I worked for three land clearing outfits.

My first experiences of that work was very challenging, every new job was in the woods place you would never take a truck, they dragged us up the hills and down, very scary at times. The best job I did lots of exploring.

When they were chipping the truck, there were abandon house, farms, buildings the woods to explore; it was great. When the economy crashed so did the work.

I am back working for my first boss. I drive a single axle Mack with a bunk most of the work is drop and hook. Fifty hours a week no weekends its good.

Ladies I have done very well in this business. I say stay true to yourself. Treat people how you would like to be treated. Never be afraid to ask for help. Eat right stay strong exercise take care of your back keep your core strong, in the long run you will save your back; always stay alert and be safe just some good tips.

I am also a singer songwriter I started singing and writing poems at a very young age. I been sing professionally now for fifteen years.

I like to share with you my latest truck driving song call "Roll On Truck Driving Girl".

The song tells a story of how I start in this trucking biz. Thank you Women In Trucking for giving us ladies in trucking the opportunity to share our stories on your site.

Girls be safe on the road and have a great day! Lisa Godino
