D.O.T. physical NEW

The way it sets right now, there is a new regulation going into place starting February 2013? All D.O.T. physicals will be sent directly from the doctor’s office where you take your physical to the main DMV office in your state. If you live in California, then the issuing physician will send the long form directly to DMV in Sacramento. Once the information is received by DMV, it will be downloaded into the central computer base. The black strip on the back of your license contains your driving record as well as any criminal history you may have, and; as of February 2013 it will show if your D.O.T. physical is current and valid.
There is one issue that is causing a bit of a stir, and that is the possibility that all the information on the long form will show up for any officer to see. That is in direct violation of privacy laws. It is called Doctor Patient confidentiality. No law enforcement officer or agency needs to know, or has a right to know the specific information between you and your doctor. However I don’t think this part will pass, There will be so many lawsuits filed against the government for violation of the Doctor Patient confidentiality laws. The government does not have the time or the money to fight all the claims that would inevitably be brought against them. Now, once this regulation goes into effect (FEB. 2013) the need to carry your medical card with you should become a thing of the past. However; if you are like me, you will hold onto it juuuuuuust in case.
I hope this was of some help to you, and remember; Jesus loves you.
