The question I have for you guys are there anybody that completed their 5 years in clearing House? If so, when? Did they remove violation from your clearing house from the date that the violation occur the start date of the violation 5 years from that date I was told from clearing house.I want to Just Wat confirm that. Was told from them it would automatic be removed at 5 years.

@jerry I been though same thing 3 years ago must or them u have a wait time between 12 to.60month5years or wait one 1year after completing.. Buddymoore trucking out Alabama headquarters have a terminal Anderson South Carolina but u have have one year of cdl experience and have completed all steps in RTD testing but most companies u have wait 2 to 5 years before they can hire u or less it a local small company. I was luck that I wrk same trucking company the whole time never be fire completed all steps why still employed so I been completed 3half years ago I drive as o/o now

I recently failed a pre employment drug test I went through all of the steps I needed to find an employer that will take me and do the return to duty after a long and exhaustive search I came across a company called surety transportation they took me with no question gave me a lease purchase truck making 80% on all my loads brokered and dedicated with runs back-and-forth from the Midwest to the South They have drivers from all over the country and everyone is making money i couldn't be happier and no they don't know I'm posting this I'm just trying to look out for the next driver sice I know how hard it can be.

"Ok, so I attended orientation for a company and refused the job offer. I walked out of the orientation and literally 10 minutes later got a flurry of emails stating that I was reported for refusing a drug screening. I went through the sap program and am now in step 6 (follow up testing) have taken one test already. My point is this, how can you get/find another job if you don’t get accurate information on the places that will hire you and what companies will hire you before the one year mark of the violation or completion of the program??? I’m open to all responses.🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️"

How can walking out of orientation count as a refusal on a pre employment test you were never tested not employed by them? They use and abuse us they can ruin anyone career the best is when you resign then they say you refused a random I'm surprised more trucking companies' owners aren't being shot like what happened in Burr Ridge IL recently?

I’ve already completed SAP about 18 months ago violation in 2018 didn’t know I failed a pre employment until company I was with started the clearinghouse compliance in 2019 long story short the rushed me to go find a SAP counselor but I was going through protocol to see if I can resolve situation by linking them up with my pharmacy or doctors slow response from MRO officers so I followed there instructions once I did intake the refused to keep me employed to do RTD drug screen. I finally found a carrier and successfully completed the program. New CDL A Driver Seattle WA (6 months experience) Stricken with Cancer this year induced medical Cannabis in Washington State where its legal btw for side effects due to year long medical regiment. I'm not a drug user and have been sober from alcohol btw for 15 years and I don't smoke cigarettes. I did abstain from cannabis (two months) knowing I would be performing a pre-employment UA and still failed test due to a slow medical related metabolism (Prostate Cancer). So now according to the FMCSA Clearinghouse I'm considered a drug head and $700 dollars later I have completed RTD awaiting a company that will hire me and its tough. Hello.
I refused a drug test when working with fed ex in 2020. I completed the sap course and am now stuck on the employer drug test part. I even called my old employer at western express which I thought took anyone back and they told me they'll never hire me again. I'm in the orlando area and can't find anyone to give me a second chance. If anyone would help it would be a huge deal for me and my family. I can't believe how hard it is to get a job again. My clean license means nothing to everyone. So frustrating.

I've had my cdl for 8 years. A million pluse miles otr, clean mvr, no tickets or accidents and can drive an auto trans or Manual 10,13,18. I have experience in oversized,reefer,van,flat and roll bed dump extention trailers up to 60+ feet.

I refused a second take on a pre employment and pretty much threw my trucking career away until I seen this site.
I'd like to give a big thanks to every company that is accepting sap drivers and the many more coming aboard; you give us all hope and understand that ppl make mistakes.
After reviewing this site and talking to others I'll be committing myself to complete the sap program and get back to work!

I’ve been an OTR driver for 13 years. The company I was working for I was making a delivery and then a pick up while headed back to the yard. This was a Friday and I was headed back out for the weekend and week. I received a text and phone call stating that was pulled for a random drug test. My wife was meeting me at the yard anyways to give me my food for the week etc. So she drove me to get the test and then back to the yard. I left the testing place and the paper is timed at 2:09 PM, I got back to the yard, my wife left I walked in the office and they said you had to go back and take another test. I asked why, was furious of course cause I couldn’t understand since I just came back from taking one. They said they received a phone call stating that I was using drugs. I don’t do drugs I don’t even drink, Mind you this is a matter of 15 minutes of finishing taking the test but they wanted me to take another one.

I was getting pissed off when I asked who called and they said they can’t tell me. I couldn’t understand why I just went for the drug test, no issue I had no problem taking it knowing I would pass, The results didn’t even come back obviously since it was within 20 minutes maybe 30. I have both text messages they sent me to go for the drug test, both of them. I was getting upset when they wouldn’t tell me why they wanted me to go for another one or it said wouldn’t tell me who called and told them.

I had no choice but to take the SAP program. I completed it, even the lady I want to say I know you don’t have a drug problem and told me exactly what I need to do. So I finish the program it says i’m ready to return to duty however I found out that no company will hire you until 120 days after. This happened back on April 8, 2022. My family and I are going to lose the house I have no money left nobody hire me. I’ve never had a complaint come I’m always early for my deliveries/pick ups. Get along with everyone. My last company not give me my last paycheck, they took money out of my paycheck without my permission they owe me about $3000 which would help me right now.

What sucks is that I went for the drug test, came back they told me to go back for another one my anger got the best of me when I should’ve just went but I said screw you and quit. Of course the first test I went for was negative as I knew it would be. But unfortunately on my record it says that I failed a drug test because I refused it. And I did not refuse the first one I want willingly no problem at all, it’s when I came back from just taking the first test they told me to go back without even getting the results on the first one or giving me a reason why.

Does anybody know companies that would hire? I’ve been through this app program ready to return to duty. I’m in Chicago area. If anyone knows any companies that will hire ASAP, I’d appreciate the information. Not only doing it and get back to her but I want to get back to work I love driving truck.

I got my. Lass A. Liscense. In January. Went to my first job interview an was drug tested that day. An didn’t pass a pre employment drug test. Had very little thc in my system But enough to fail the test seems like my career ended Befor I had the chance to start. Since then. I signed up for sap. Program. Completed it. An since then. I haven’t had any luck finding any job applied for over 80 jobs. They all said no. I have 1-2 months of experience if anybody knows how I can get a job please let me know. Im currently a sap driver, I have completed my drug awareness classes and my sessions with a sap counselor, i'm currently listed in the clearinghouse as eligible for return to duty testing, I have filled out over 20 applications and have been denied by all of them, I made a mistake and im gonna have to pay for it for the rest of my life because nobody will give me a chance to prove myself worthy of a second chance, I can pass any drug test they offer, im very frustrated because a lot of these companies will hire convicted felons before they would hire me.

My name is Justin i have about 15 months of otr experience. I went thru a sap last year for a pre employment and i wasn't able to urinate and i left the facility. Then after about 4-5 months i got another refusal due to something stupid long story short i was screwed on changing the sample site and when they said i could do that 2 hours later they called and said i couldn’t do itt. Went through the sap again now i just need to do a rtd. I even offered to pay the hair follicle and urine the next day and they said we can’t do that. Note to self any drugs goes back 6 months to 1 year with hair. Any companies hiring ? I dont smoke or drink at all

The problem is you do NOT have to have taken even a single Tylenol in your LIFE. You want the info - I know the info. Please PLEASE REACH OUT JUST TO ASK so you’re not running into this ever too - mind you you can get on SAP with a personal license with no other additions, also don’t be late on producing in the time frame OR pass a UA and not know about a hair test and decide you just don’t want your hair cut = SAP!!!!

Nobody starts an investigation about this? I read many of the comments here and some are saying that don’t do drugs but failed the tests. Do you know that you can get false positive? That means that you can get interferences that can result positive without being social drugs. The worst part is that DOT doesn’t want to recognize this point and penalize the drivers. But not only that many MRO’s doesn’t know or don’t know how to handle those results.

Check indeed.com type in SAP cdl it'll give you a good amount of companies. Also try calling recruiters from various companies and explain the situation. Goodluck if all else fails try Craigslist and maybe land a Owner Op position or a smaller mom and pop company.

I've got some bad news for y'all.

The ONLY companies that are going to hire you after failing or refusing a drug test are the ones you DO NOT want to work for. Western Express, for example. Look in a different career field and let your dreams of truck driving go. They wonder why there's a trucker shortage and yet once the SAP program is completed, nobody will hire you.

I found a heavy equipment operator job that pays more than when I was driving a truck AND I'm home every single night.

Say bye bye to trucking - it sucks anyway.

According to the FMCSA your first 6 randoms/ test have to be uploaded into clearing house, yes. However if you start your follow up program with a company and transition over to another, then yes per FMCSA and Clearinghouse you restart from that 6th point or wherever it was dropped. There can always be extenuating circumstances. As to Arizona I am not in any safety department and also I am basing my answers off of the research required in order for me to complete my job in a manner that is successful - any tips, tricks, anything I will be more than happy to know about as to research and become more knowledgeable on the subject.. thank you, however I’m sore of unclear of all the points and or question that you had, with all due respect. I may have mis read it. Could you please clarify for me a bit more what you meant?

Hello is it normal for a trucking company to fire you for a random but you know you didn't use drugs? Mro said failure but told mro to retest sample 2 and never heard back. This was 5 months ago and I've been working landscaping but now that winter time is coming I need to start driving again. I was working at a local p&d company and on my last day as I was leaving they tried get me with a random but I couldn’t stay I had an appointment to take a pre employment drug test for a different job so I left. I passed my prey employment and was already training at my new job when I got a letter saying I had to go trough the sap process was then pretty much let go I was told to complete that then give them a call when I was done. This is a repost because people have been contacting me but tell me I'm short on experience. I only have 6 months total work experience driving along with 1 month 160hr CDL school. I have pulled doubles for the past 5 months along with some 53fter dry vans. I am hazmat endorsed, tanker endorsed, combo endorsed. I've pulled tankers with food grade product for 1 month. I'm located in northwest Indiana chicagoland Illinois region. Experience running OTR with doubles and 53ft vans also hauling tankers. Ran 300mile radius and back also west coast in sleeper operations.
Looking for a owner op or smaller company to send me out for a few days or couple weeks out at a time. Looking to run 3500+ miles a week but will settle for less or more. Like I said I'm looking for anything that keeps me running. Local work/hr work could also be fine.

I made a mistake and it ruined my career and I am now trying to rebuild it.

If you’re looking to get back on the road read the post that was posted July 23,2021. I did just that. It suggested that I should post an add on Craigslist being honest about my situation, I did so and the calls came in. Be aware of the scams and DO NOT give any information out about your Drivers license. Tell them to give you their information so that you can investigate them. If they’re legit they will forward the information if not the texts will stop. I just blocked the scam texts to eliminate it all at once. Within two weeks I received several offers, now I’m back on the road.

You know what you don’t know will hurt you. I am 49 years old been driving trucks since 1998, never refused and always passed my randoms and pre-employment screenings, I have been a O/O for 5 years, and I just bought a truck to put on the road, I went to a family gathering all my nieces and nephews and other family members were at the gathering, and my eldest nephews had some what they call edibles, they were chips that was infused with THC so they were going around giving people these chips, they were packaged like real chips with the logo on them and everything, so the elders we didn’t think anything of it, but they were pranking us, so one of my nephews gave me a bag, I took them because the food wasn’t ready and I wanted something to eat on so I took the bag of chips and I ate them, 20 minutes later I started to feel funny and I ask my niece what did my nephew give me? And she started laughing, and eventually told me what it was.. and I got so mad that I made a scene, and told him that I got a CDL and I can’t have THC in my system! I just bought a truck and now I am stuck! I was already scheduled to go take a pre-employment screening, so he going to say Uncle just drink a lot of water you don’t smoke so you should be ok, I did that but it was still in my system and I failed the pre-employment, my clearinghouse updated me and stated that I need to go through the SAP program and I did I tested negative and now I am trying to find a good company that will take me on. My record has been clean for years no accidents only a log violation that gave me 3 points but I had that removed, I have trained drivers very strict in safety. hello, I'm from Mississippi. failed hair follicle test at kllm.. was in a motorcycle accident may 16,2021.. doctor gave me hydrocodone in er at the time of the accident and wrote me a script for oxycodone.. I had paper work proving hydrocodone was given in er but considering I didn't have an prescription for it, kllm wouldn't accept the paper work that I had, they reported to federal agency that I failed the drug test. urine was clean.. I never in my life took those pills besides then.. I was told that no company or school will ever accept me because of this.. can anybody tell what can I do.

Hello everyone, I been looking everywhere for help and I finally found it. I got an unfairly refusal to test on my record back on July 2020, because I left the clinic after a pre employment drug test, even though I had the permission to leave by my future employer. Later on I came back to the clinic for an observed test with the employer permission but HR cancelled it and went with the refusal to test. :(

I just got my CDL A last week 03/2021 and I’m having a really hard time to find employment, I completed the SAP program and I just need the back to duty drug test. I’m from central California

I’ve been on the SAP for a year and working for a company out of Colorado. I’ve got my CDL A and have 5+ years. I’ve been running flatbed and would like to stick with that. I also have a dog. I got hired back in February by a fleet out of Griffith IN. Got return to duty test done and such. They pay up to 70 cents per mile with all bonuses. Seem like a good company so far, but got older equipment. If you cant drive 7 years old trucks - dont bother to call them, they dont have newer equipment.

30 plus yrs OTR and over 3million verifiable safe miles, this November 2020 I was enjoying scheduled time off working on a hopeful investment property and doing a little hunting.I had been hanging out having a few beers with hired workers on the house we are renovating.. I indulged in activity that I now embarrassingly should of known better..I was called in for a random during my time off. I have never failed a drug test,and am not normally a frequent partier other than a few beers when home and off duty.I never gave a thought to my activities on Tuesday evening going the30 mile trek one way to do a random ....I got the call from the medical office that I tested positive... I was dumbstruck and embarrassed.. I called the company CEO before the medical office did... I then sought out a SAP and paid 475 dollars cash to be evaluated on black Friday. I have completed the program the SAP had directed and turned in documentation that was requested... Now the company I previously was a shining star at has a zero tolerance policy. So although I have completed the SAP program I am unemployed with 30years and 3 million plus miles...never had a chargeable accident and never had a speeding ticket, knock on wood ...so I'm putting it out there like I see so many of my fellow drivers .570-885-2312 Kevin , any help greatly appreciated

Quickly Ill say, once I failed my test and starting reading about SAP and Clearinghouse, I thought I was screwed. Had 8 yrs clean DAC, no tickets, no accidents. Life sucked. So, what I did was I went thru the required program from SAP. It was done online via Skype. Finished in two weeks. Now, looking into jobs, noone wanted to give nme a break, or couldnt. So, I went on Craigslist and posted a very honest, yet sincere ad seeking a job. In my ad I was honest about my record, honest about just completing the SAP Program and honest about my history. Within 1 day I had about 3 responses. After a week, about 15. Some were from recruiters and they found out they couldnt get me in yet. Others were from Owner Ops. Some of their companies would be able to hire me. BUT, two were promising. I just took my Return to Duty drug test yesterday for a company of REAL nice people. The Owner is super cool too. So, within 45 days of "Failing" this Pre-employment test, I am days away from driving again. God willing. I KNOW there are no drugs in my system as I dont do drugs or drink. (Long story on the failure of the test.) My point is, keep trying, get your info out in front of companies and owner Ops. Many are good people that understand and are willing to give 2nd chances. Im gonna work hard for this guy. He gave me a chance. Its my turn to return the favor. I hope this was encouraging for you guys!!! Good luck, ber safe, be drug free!!!

Hair follicle test can not be reported to the DOT, or reported to future employers. They only recognize urine for drugs, blood and saliva alcohol. Employers can use hair follicle tests as a prerequisite for hiring. All these people that say it will go on your DAC, are misinformed. It will not go on DAC or the DOT Clearing House. So if someone tells you it can , research yourself on the Clearing House page, or call DAC. To Crete Carrier, Stick it where the sun don’t shine !

I was hired by Crete in Feb ‘20. Passed urine/and hair. Ten days later I was called by YRC who I already applied for. I only had to take urine test. Passed. On April 6 I was laid off by YRC,union, seniority thing. Crete had already asked me to come back. So on April 7, they sent me to do a urine test before I went back to rehire. Passed. It took a week to get the results back. So when the results came back I went down on that Monday April 13.. The next morning I was sent to the clinic to do a hair folicle and get a new physical . Did that. The next day they sent me to Amanda City to get a truck. I go out on that Friday to pick up my first load, and the MRO calls and says my hair test came back positive for marijuana . There’s no arguing with them or the company . They came and pulled me out of the truck. I requested a split analysis , at my cost 125.00, to be done at another lab. How do I know it’s even my sample they are testing. I HAVENT SMOKED ANY MARIJUANA ! I am in my 28th year of trucking. I know the deal with all that BS. So anyway , on the way home. to Oklahoma I contacted several drug testing companies . One sent me to a collection site in Wichita KS , where I stopped and completed the process for 180.00 . I want piece of mind. So at this moment I am waiting for the results of both tests. If the one I took in KS come back positive , I will really look like a fool. Because I have not smoked anything, and I won’t know how in the hell it got in my system.

I was in a similar situation as a lot of people on here, I failed a pre employment drug screen for thc. From there I looked up a SAP provider in my area be prepared to pay 400-600 for your SAP program mabie even more depending on your situation. Based off of the conversation with your SAP provider will determine what Type of treatment you will have to do, mine was the bare minimum I just had to do a 4hr class online and it gave me a certificate that I had to turn in following That completing a negative drug test. Once that is complete you are considered eligible to be able to take a return to duty test Doesn’t mean you can drive just yet you are just now considered eligible to take a return to duty test for a company if they want to hire you . My best advice from that point on is to just apply for jobs like crazy like I did most jobs might not want to take you but there is hope to getting back on the road just stay persistent in your job search and be upfront and honest with companies that your applying for because they will find out you failed a drug screening so best thing to do is to be straight forward with them, if you follow these steps and stay positive persistent, and up front about your situation there is hope to getting back on the road... im living proof it worked for me so just keep the faith guys and good luck to you all on your job searching

i just went through an rrp risk reduction program sap due to i failed a drug test due to walking out i went through this program to get back to work but nobody will hire me now. yeah i messed up by walking out of the clinic but the dr shouldnt have been rude to me but anyway i am looking for work this crap isnt even on my clearinghouse or my dac or psp report

Look I was one of the people who wasn't dirty. Just cause I couldn't pee, they gave me a refusal. It's been 3 years for me now. Fortunately, I was never out of work. Y'all out there it will get better. People going through this program reminds me of the people of Egypt. God is just testing us all because nothing happens by mistake. I went my whole life not ever doing any drugs of any sort. The one time I took a spoonful of my wife's cough syrup and there you go, positive for opiates the following day. I had just spent 5k on a cdl school, now I found myself spending almost another grand for the sap in order to clear my status just to find out now I can't get a jobs anywhere. Every employer I've contacted takes no time in rejecting my application once they find out about my "failed drug test". Thank you Clearinghouse for ruining any chance of me getting my family forward. All this for a spoonful of cough syrup, ridiculous !!!!!

Don’t know if anybody has heard but on January 6 2020 another regulation will go into effect. fmcsa drug & Alcohol clearing house Will require all cdl holders sign up any driver that hasn’t yet can’t be hired until the do.

What will the Clearinghouse contain?

There’s a lot of information that’s going to go into the Clearinghouse. It’s going to have the records of violations of drug and alcohol prohibitions in 49 CFR Part 382, Subpart B. It will have information about:

Positive drug tests
Positive alcohol tests
Drivers completing the return-to-duty process and follow-up testing plan
So, for people who have CDLs or CLPs, this info is going to be visible to employers, the FMCSA, state drivers license agencies, and state law enforcement. And if a driver has a violation in one state, the Clearinghouse will show that information even if they apply for a CDL in another state. (The purpose of this is that the information needs to be kept complete and accurate.) This will make it a lot harder for drivers to find a company even after you complete the return to duty process

I could spend hours on this subject because its not properly covered. The federal government has created another mess in its bid to be virtuous and grab more and more power. Assuming you were positive for cannabis you should not even be in this position. Since you are, all you can do is try and stay in compliance. Its difficult and absolutely unfair but if you want to still work in the industry you have no choice. Even if you stay in compliance you can still be fired. If you are fired and in compliance there are a few companies that will work with you but not many. Most of this is because the industry is ignorant about what happens when this happens. Also the government purposely makes it hard for you to still work if you want to work interstate. They also allow your old employer to fire you even if you're in compliance. It's a fact that convicts on parole are treated better than drivers that have tested positive. I still have another year of numerous random test to take because I tested positive once in 36 years of randoms. Even the test sites can be abusive because again you have no choice. You may want to consider leaving the industry like most people until cannabis is federally legalized. Never trust your government to treat you fairly about anything. Lesson learned.

My cousin passed away at the end of October after his funeral me and the rest of my cousin's were drinking and somewhere in the midst I was smoking weed anyway I had no idea how long it stays in your system. To make a long story short I came back dirty on the ua I finished my sap in November my sap counselor after evaluating me knew what I already knew I'm not a smoker was just one of those things I had my return to duty status given to me I'm ready to go but I don't what's in my dac I mean does it say I failed for marijuana does it say I failed to comply this was a pre employment drug test and I'm worried I blew my 11year career to hell can someone guide me on this I'm lost if I guse it will be hi welcome to McDonald's

Yes any failed or refusals you have go through a sap program . Look up your own sap professional it's cheaper. Still going to run you about 450.00. If your out of Albuquerque I can give you the sap I went through. But the process was simple . You do an assessment meeting telling them what happened they'll recommend counseling or treatment . If it's minor and first time they'll recommend 6 counseling sessions. Which ain't to bad. My sessions pretty much went like how you doing how was your day k laters I'll see you next session. after that you'll do a follow up meeting with your sap . They'll approve you and send u a letter to give to your future employer. Then you have to take 6 random for a year.

Mike, please give more information about Jax Transportation. Is it just 6 months after a positive or refusal, or after SAP? My husband got a refusal, but he didn't refuse, he did the test. He was in a motorcycle accident and when he went back to work and did the yearly drug screening, there was blood in his urine and the tech would not take the sample. The tech also left the sample on the counter for over 5 minutes before testing it, and he tried to say the sample was not at the correct temp. He made my husband strip down to see if there were and devices on him, which there wasn't. My husband sat there until hours after they closed to try to piss again, but could not. There is nothing on his DAC report, his previous employer never gave him anything about SAP when they let him go either, which is a DOT violation. While he was on medical leave for his motorcycle accident, they lost a contract and didn't have a route for my husband to run anymore. We think this was just a way to fire him, but they are tarnishing his name and career. My husband offered to go back first thing in the morning to retest, but they refused. You can't clean your system out in a few hours. So please give more details in Jax.

Yes I had refused a drug test after returning from vacation. Yes I had smoked some bud. And yes it was the most expensive joint I have ever smoked. But I chose a warehouse that I use to deliver to near my house to work at while I went through the sap program. During that time I talked to many truckers finally finding someone that will put me on soon as I finish the program. So it's possible to find a second chance just keep your head up and get back to it. Another thing I see is try to get around the recruiters to some one in person within the business. Good luck brothers I'll be back on the road within a week .

My husband went through the program March 2017 and finished in May 2017 went back to his job and has passed all randoms these past 19 months. They tell the employees that they are laying off so my husband apply for other jobs. Everyone turned him down and finally one job told him that they needed him and his resume was awesome 17 years driving experience etc but his job told them about the SAP PROGRAM. MY HUSBAND IS DEVASTATED BECAUSE IT'S LIKE HE IS LITERALLY IN BONDAGE.

I had a lab claim that I tested positive for marijuana. The lab is Quest Diagnostics and they have been through numerous class action lawsuits for everything from medicare/Medicaid fraud, not paying employees, falsifying test results, overbilling, paying kickbacks to doctors and MROs, etc...etc...etc... The person who collected the sample did not seal the container propèly which I contacted DOT about the first business day that I was home. ey wouldn't do thing. After I was told I failed which is literally impossible, I waited the appropriate amount of time and got an underarm hair follicle test through USDTL. Theydid hee most sensitive test possible, 1 picogram for marijuana or 15000 times more sensitive than a DOT test, and was able to test back a year. My system is clean and has been. They checked each individual hair for any signs of tampering and could find none, if there had been any, the test results would have come back inconclusive. I did the SAP program anyway, got the absolute minimum educational requirements and still can't get a job. What is worse, DOT contracted this company to do drug trend analysis so they don't want to grant a PIE in spite of this companies illegal activity.

And also is it even going to make a difference if he did, sounds like it doesn't matter even once the programs are completed. He made a mistake and took an unprescribed pain pill after having oral surgery and got popped by the company he worked for it was t even DOT but get blacklisted every time he applied for a job.

DOT needs to support the drivers instead of destroying their lives. After 17 years of commercial driving I have lost my career over a medication I took on my days off. I will bet the fools that make these rules cannot pass a random or alcohol test. Another way for the government to rule over your life. If you have been off work due to illness they should not be able to pull a random til you have the time to prove it wasn't done on the job.

Then stop profiting from an industry that takes advantage of human beings. Where I come from you're called a parasite. These people are victims of politics and the cowards that perpetuate them. I much rather have a guy who ate a marijuana brownie two days ago on home time behind the wheel than alcoholics who are allowed to drive their entire careers with impunity as long as they get a few hours sleep and a cup of coffee before they get behind the wheel. As an Expert in DOT Compliance and someone who teaches companies how to hire drivers I am going to comment on the SAP process just fyi... First off going to a Counselor does NOT mean you have completed a SAP. All SAP programs have the initial counselor interview, typically 6-8 weeks of classes and then up to 5 years of follow up testing that must take place. The minimum for follow up testing is 6 times in a 12 month period. As a driver you are not allowed to know the schedule for the follow up testing and must be available to be called in to complete the observed follow up test at any time over the next 5 years. If you have been terminated by an employer it is your responsibility to find a third party that will manage this for you which will be pretty expensive to manage as well as for the actual testing typically. Most employers cannot hire a driver that has failed or refused a D&A test because they may lose their insurance altogether so it is not because these companies suck, it is because you are now considered High Risk and they will lose their ass if you get in a crash even up to 10 years later. At the end of the day my answer is don't screw up your entire life by doing stupid crap; although I do realize that people make mistakes and really do want to fix it properly; for those drivers here is my suggestion... Complete the counselor and classes portion and then find the 3rd party to manage the follow up process (you are going to pay a small fortune and sometimes the counselor may be able to recommend someone to manage it for you). Look for smaller companies and be 100% honest with them on your background and be prepared to show all documents and give them the contact info for the counselor and the 3rd party manager. There are reports and recommendations you are not allowed to see. You are required to inform all prospective employers of your true history and are not allowed to drive a CMV for anyone(even your own) until a negative Return to Duty Test has been received and you are in a follow up testing program. If you lie on your application and a crash does occur you could go to prison so I do not recommend that. Even if no crash occurs and the DOT somehow figures out you did not do all SAP recommendations you could lose your CDL for life and be considered an "Imminent Hazard". It is your responsibility as a professional truck driver to make sure your employer or 3rd party properly follows the program for you. The employer is not responsible for your CDL only that they not allow you to drive for them unless regs are being met. Below is a link to the FMCSA website to explain more. Truth is, it is very difficult to find any employment after SAP. But most places will hire dock workers after SAP. but don't expect to drive again for a long time.

I Have a clean driving record, no accidents, and 1 speeding 5 MPH over the limit. 0 points, A old friend came over one night, we snorted a line, next day into work. I had a random test and failed. I got fired, I went to SAP.

He said I didn't qualify for a long term program. He said do 6 self help meetings, and you'll be able to drive again. What he didn't say was "NO ONE" will hire you.

I apply 3 to four times a day to places, my phone rings constantly. maybe I'm saying the wrong things. (like) I had to go to SAP I'm just trying to be honest. There is nothing but that on my record. No DAC nothing!!

Some say call us in 3 years others say 7 years. seriously? and to juice it up, I can't collect unemployment.

And they say honesty is the best policy. Who decided SAP was good for a first offense. Frustrated in Pa.

Once you're out of the program do not expect SAP to help you out. I gave them $500. I went to their program. I am denied implant Everywhere I Go.

I should have said my $500. And start a new career. Government!! It's ridiculous.. they give you the ok to drive again. But that's another story trying to find a job. They will not defend you or help you.

I had my job 14 years, I got randomly tested and failed a test. SAP take your money and runs, they don't give a damn about you or your career. I have been looking for 3 months it is my new full-time job. I gave them $500. For three months worth of Misery. They do not help you find employment.

I just wish someone would have told me you'll never drive again for a first-time offense. Sucks

My fellow driver it is hope , a couple months ago I loss my licence as well but last month my licence was issued back to me, happy man, the company I worked for it allow me to drive and do what I love which is driving, my brother, do not listen to negative from people, they think they are perfect, let them , you keep doing, what you need to get your license back ,and get back driving.

Well they are few companies which they are moving company, small company around were you stay who own few truck, stay way big companies, not all give you chances, but still trying them so my fellow driver , today I am back behind wheel doing something I love , I learn my lesson about my decision, I hope y'all to we are human, it is never to late I hope the best for all y'all

I failed a drug drug test after being a new hire for 3 weeks. I was walking across an unplowed-unsalted snowy parking lot and slipped and jacked up my knee. It was bad but not broken, however it was too messed up to preform my duties of heavy loading of my truck. So I was let go. I'm was returning to the field after 20 yrs.

So there were many things I was ignorant about. So I'm in the same position as everyone else here. How to get back driving. Now this happened about 9 months ago. I didn't even know about the SAP until I started digging in.

Of course I haven't done the sap yet only because I hear its nearly impossible to get back on the road. I have a perfect record with Haz/Tanker. The whole crazy thing is while I was not driving I was running a drug and alcohol facility.

Anyway, I really want to go back on the road. Son who will hire me and is it worth the the cost to do the SAP. If you have any positive advice please send it along here rich101@myway.com Thank you.

Yes I did a SAP program cause of a mistake but I did all the requirements but I don't understand if a person did all the classes and went through a SAP program why don't the Federal Government remove any marks off your record if u did the program.

I know there are a lot of honest people in the world that fall from grace but we don't have to be punish for it much as they r needing drivers to move freight and the system isn't fair against those who want to get back out into the game so yes if trucking companies are hiring felons and giving them a chance where r the companies that can hire people who went through the SAP programs, or does there need to be a company open to get all SAP people a 2nd chance to get back on the road again since states r reporting on you state record now, but if no one hasn't broken any law's why punish those seeking work in the trucking field again, but if any got info on companies that give truckers a chance you can email me at blacxkcobra@gmail.com and my record is clean hazmat to

Looking for options for my husband he has completed SAP Due to a incomplete urine sample. He couldnt " go" when asked due to dehydration and meds so it was considered a positive result. He is a 55 yr old man and has never done drugs of any kind nor does he drink. Has a job but the company looks to be going down and need to find something else to go to if it does. No accidents at all. No tickets in 5 yrs. Experience in crude oil, frac sand, flowback water , drilling mud and cement for 21 yrs. Any suggestions?

I completed a SAP class just a month ago an my same company hired me rite back.. The safety manager told me if I take the class i still have my job.. I been back on the road now for 2 weeks but I do drive for a O/O.. I can say you can try TransX out.. I'm out of Eagan, Minnesota but our head quarter is in Canada.. Were do you stay we have another truck open and looking for a hard running driver who can put up at least 3500 miles a week.. We are a damn good company with the miles but I'm getting tested 6 times out of a year

Yes Jerry there are trucking companies that will hire you after completing the Substance Abuse Program.

Congratulations by the way!

Of course it will not be smiled upon by all of the trucking companies. Just get a trucking jobs book from your nearest truck stop and do some calling.

Also check trucking jobs for felons, the companies mentioned are sure to hire a person out of SAP if they will hire felons.

Also, it depends on what other things that are on your record as to how well they will absorb the news about completing SAP.

Either way, regardless of the situation completing it is a step in the right direction. Keep your head up as you knock on doors to find the opportunities that await you.

If you do additional things that also show that there is a new you.... maybe volunteer at a place that you find gratifying or where you think you can make a difference or attention a class of personal development, etc..... will only increase the odds that you are seen for who you are now.

You know sometimes it is hard for people to see people the past. It's best to try and help see by finding ways to say,

"Look at me now, I am going in a new direction because my destination is a different place. I have goals and bright future. Help me if you wish or move out of my way, because there is nothing that can stop me."

Meanwhile just take it one step at a time and keep pushing forward man.
