oilfield trucking, the real story

by steve chapman
(midland)

I have only been trucking for about a year. But this year I will make over $80,000 and will be home every night.

Sounds unreal but very true.

I work about 60-65 hours per week locally toating crude oil. I'm a company driver. This is in West Texas. Jobs here are plentiful and the company I work for is in need of drivers.

You only need a years experience in driving. They will teach you how to do crude oil. They will even pay you to move here.

They will put you in hotel for a while til you find a place of your own. You will need tankers and hazmat on your license. Don't get it in Texas, very expensive and time consuming.

My e-mail is sc1956@msn.com if you want to learn more of this great opportunity.

Are you allowed to sleep in the truck?
by: Cheapsake

If you don't want to spend your hard earned money on an expensive rent, is it possible to sleep in the truck?

Arizona

I moved from Tucson arizona to Midland texas a year ago because of the unique job situation here. Truckers here are in huge demand. It has worked out great except for having to move my family. Things here are very different from most of the country.

McDonalds will pick you up, feed you and then return you home after work. $1,000 sign on bonus to work at Subway! Billboards on the interstate advertising for help. Its hard to get in a resturant because everyone has money here and spends. My wife hasn't worked in 18 years and her first application got her a job at Dillards at $15.00 per hour! I am not trying to brag, I think more people should know about these oil towns and the good paying jobs that there providing. There is a huge swath of land from texas to canada that is loaded with natural gas and oil, and that means its loaded with jobs also.

Dont pay "not right" no mind...he aint right!!
by: Anonymous

Hello again 13 years trucking, people who are jealous don't get good jobs because they don't believe in themselves. So I think that "ain't right" has a few issues.

My guy has been driving for 25 years, and although he makes good money it is not 80,000.00. When I told him about the Midland job he said that was great, and good money! I even told him I would move there, and work at Walmart for that pay, even if it so we could finish building our home in AZ. That's the way to think, ahead right?

Why is "ain't right" wasting time whining about what he doesn't have, and move forward, with the good information you have put out there for all to see and coming from the heart!!

I want to thank you for the info and God Bless!:)

response to 13 yr. trucker
by: Anonymous

Don't understand why you think I don't deserve a job like I have. I researched the field, did my homework, had to move to midland texas. I earned this job.

I went after what I wanted. You could get this job too if you'd stop complaining about other people, get off your but and go after it. From your response your more qualified than me. Why didn't they hire you. Cause you didn't apply or apply yourself, thats why.

While I'm on that subject,"Why would anyone be a regular truck driver"? It surley doesn't pay a decent salary! You have to live in a truck! To me thats silly unless your making decent money and most drivers don't. I would never work for peanuts. I seized on an opprotunity when one appeared. Thousands of us did. There is an oil-boom here and everyone gets a job that wants one.

Midland truckers
by: Anonymous

Apartments and hotels are expensive here, but that is about it. The money to be made in Midland for truckers far outweighs the extra costs. Wal-mart pays 14 dollars to start for any job there. Trucking jobs here are plentiful. I wouldn't work for a place like schneider though.

Their lead drivers think there everything. The money isn't that good either considering the hours, (on call and salary) only helps the company and am sure a lawsuit will arise from that before its over with. Lots of jobs pay very well here as there is a big driver shortage in Midland Tx.

Thats Great!
by: Anonymous

I hear that it is expensive to live in Midland now since the oil boom there! My guy broke down there last month and had to pay 169.00 for a hole in the wall roach infested hotel! Only one available.

How is the town shaping now since the boom?
The money sounds good! :)
