New girl on the road

(Fort Smith Arkansas USA)

Hello, just wanted to say that I was in my second year of school going for my BSN RN degree for nursing. Had to quit school because I lost my job and was paying for school myself.

Going to school full time working full time and trying to contribute to the house hold income is no easy task. I gave up.

I went to my state job link website to look for a job in my area whatever it may be fast food, retail whatever and as soon as I logged in there was a state sponsored add taking applications for people to go to state sponsored trucking school.

They pay for the school room and board and you get 35.00 a day for food. I thought what an amazing idea and the starting pay is a guaranteed 35-37,000 your first year. And you are signed for one year with a trucking company. So I contacted the school directly and applied and I will be leaving 11/14/11.

Will be training in the winter and it is OTR, coast to coast. Im super excited signed with USA Truck. So I don't have any stories to tell yet other than I think this is a blessing in disguise.
