by fred
(toledo, oh)

jack-knife in feb on black ice, no one hurt, no other vehicles involved. took out 30ft of guardrail, got cited for failure to cont/w accident, pled guilty and paid fine; company let me go because of insurance risk(small company). jb hunt recruited me, drove 2+ hours only to find out they cant accept me because of it. my question(s) are; what do I do next? can I change this to something else on my MVR(lawyer?)? do I try another company with higher risk insurance? like companies with new drivers? any info would be great!! thanks in advance

getting hired after having a accident
by: The Crazy Trucker

Hello Fred,

Man, I just called several companies to get some real feedback.

A company called GSTC said they wouldn't be able to hire until a year had pasted since the accident.

Hearltand Express said that if your company let you go because of the accident they are required to wait a year before they could hire you.

Also if there was more than $5,000 damage they could hire you but would have to wait until after 3 years.

Seems like there is a lot of variations amongst different companies. If I was you I would keep trying companies.

You might want to call lawyer to see if you can get anything changed on your record, you really should have tried to get the charged changed before it went on their though.

You might want to click on Legal Help and see what if anything TVC would be able to do or call a lawyer in the state that the accident happened.

Good luck. I think you can find a job, if that's all on your record but it might take some searching.
