Yeah Bob, i think you should be a company driver for a year or at least 6 months.

Your right more freedom with the right company and more money if you save and prepare for emergencies and pick a good truck....IF the company your leased to does what it says it will do.

And if you do what you need to do, like Jimmy said responsibility is the key factor here and running your operation like it is a business and not a hobby.

If you haven't driven though there are little things that you will learn by getting out on the road that will provide helpful insight into being an owner operator.

Plus as you are a company driver and you constantly ask questions about good companies to lease to you can have the time to find a good one while your experiencing the road.

Responsibility. That is the key word here. As an O/O you have it. As a company driver, you have it. The load is still due at a certain time to the consignee. The O/O has to drive his truck and run his business.

So, if freight rates are down, your truck breaks down, you get sick, you're not making any revenue, right? But, as a company driver, you still get cents per mile, regardless of rates.

I'll sum this up and make it short. Not everyone has a business head on their shoulders. THAT is the difference. Jimmy
