Is a Jacknife the end of the road?
by: Hervy

Chris a jacknife might present a slight challenge, but it's not the end of the road.

Remember every no is one step closer to a yes.

I guess it depends mostly what happened to cause the jacknife but any new driver is not too far from having a jack knife, they just don't know it.

For instance, I think part of the training in school should be emergency breaking simulation.

Empty trailer, moist road and hyper response by an inexperienced driver could easily result in a jacknife however if the driver goes through that exposure in training he or she is less likely to over react.

Anyway I think you just have to keep using that military attitude and knock on more doors until you come across recruiters with a little more tolerance for reality. People make mistakes, learn and are better for it after it's all said and done.

Good luck.

a company to try
by: Anonymous

try CRST, they aren't great and the pay is low; but they seen to hire anyone. My husband's co-driver had a dui about 5 years ago and they hired him. But remember CRST stands for "Careful, really stupid truckers". :) good luck

Thank you
by: Chris

Hey Jimmy. thanks to you and anonymous for replying to me.

It's good to hear from folks who deal with the same issues that I have been running in to.
It is true what you said about crashing a plane, and crashing a truck.

I think my uncle said it best when he told me. "Show me a driver who has never had an accident and i will show you someone who has not learned to slow the heck down yet."

It is just a shame that the big trucking companies don't share this view.

And yes Jimmy, I do intend to keep looking. Being X-military, the word quit is not in my vocabulary.

It's just a very frustrating situation right now. I've actually had recruiters hang up on me at the first mention of an accident. (Rude!) However, so far swift is still working with me. No answer one way or the other yet but it's an improvement over ("CLICK")

Thanks to both of you for the advice. It is help full. I'll talk to you all later.

Plane in the Hudson
by: Anonymous

You can crash a plane in the Hudson and be a hero, but you have an accident with a big truck and you are untouchable by industry standards. The fact is I know when a driver makes a mistake he is better for it.

Companies really suck the way they use people and brand them for life when things dont go well. Buy a truck and get your authority if you can.

Chris is searching.
by: Jimmy

Hey Chris, keep looking, because that's the only way you'll find something. You find the jobs, they don't find you. Jimmy
