Hit the road Jack!
by: NickV

Well David I have to be honest with you, I chuckled when you said its good money. Please dont think your going to go to school and get out and come out on the road and make a killing. The first year or more are gonna be tight. I have been doin it for 6 months and still making money that I consider low wages. All depends what company you go out with also. Another thing I have to say is if a company tells you something get it in writing or recorded. Alot of these companies...well all of these companies tell you what you want to hear, paint pretty pictures, promise you the world and before you know it your like, umm this isnt what I was promised. Now other than pay, this is a great job, or atleast I think so. If your the type that likes to fly by the seat of your pants then your gonna love it. Anything can happen at any time and thats probably what I like best. There are good days and bad days like every other job but there is always something to do. Lots of really cool people to meet, places to see, and states to cover. Word of advice when you finish school and sign on with a company stick with them for atleast a year. You try job jumpin your career you worked so hard on will come to a quick hault. Best advice I can give you about the trucking industry...THE GRASS ISNT ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE! Live by that. Just cause you have a bad day with the company your with, stick with em. These people will tell you everything you want to hear and you go to their outfit and pray you could get your old job back. Also something you may want to take into consideration if your Dad is still driving then maybe he can train you and you wouldnt have to spend all that money on school. I dunno, somethin to think about. Let us know how ya do and if you need any questions answered...shoot! If you cant find it on this website someone will help you out. No questions are to dumb to ask. Trust me, Ive seen some pretty funny stuff on here. Good Luck
