I am a truck driver and a wife of a trucker

by Shirley Tinney
(Sutherlin, Oregon)

Driving long haul is not as elegant as some people might think, the money isn't as good as it should. Living for weeks at a time in a truck, pouring cold water over my head stuck out the window to wash my hair just so I can get a comb through it really sucks!

What's a lady trucker to do? Well after pulling flatbed solo, driving team for more than eight years with my co-driver husband, I should get an award for my patience and understanding not to mention a safe driver award for being able to maintain my duties in heavy traffic in hazardous weather road conditions while getting the sleeper berth know it all drill from my husband that thinks he has to direct my every movement behind the wheel and my enduring ability to ignore the "testosterone" level of his sleeper berth drill sergeant-ness... merits myself a good quiet meditational time-out away from both man and truck soaking in a bubbly hot tub sipping some nice vino relaxing Thanking Almighty Yahweh for helping me to achieve my personal abilities to endure my life as a truck driver and staying alive under hazardous driving operating an eighteen wheeled 80,000 gvw vehicle to get home safely to continue being a stubborn hard working wife period. Too many miles and too little pay.

I am curious if the bad comment made about me by anonymous writer could possibly be a man named Brian Campbell who was the Dispatcher for a short lived trucking company "Ocean Energy Management,LLC" owned by Michael Hauser which was located at Jacksonville, Oregon. Hmm, because this company was investigated by the State of Oregon Labor Bureau and ODOT;fined a huge amount for violations. If I am correct in my curiosity, then I must say Brian, get over it already! I and my co-driver spouse were not responsible for you losing your job, your employer, Mike Hauser, was not in compliance which he could've resolved, but chose not to! There are excellent reasons for DOT Safety compliance which not only protects people employed within the trucking industry as well as the motoring public. Perhaps you should apply for a Dispatcher job with a more reputable trucking company.

I, Shirley Tinney, writer of this article also want to state in response to the "Anonymous" writer posting this bad comment about me, claiming that I am a "fraud" and a "liar" accusing me of making fraudulent Worker's Compensation Claims against many more Trucking Companies than you can count. Verifiable truth is that there is only one (1) Trucking Company which I have ever been injured on duty (Team Mucho- dba: Smalley Trucking) which I suffered disk herniation of L3-L4 requiring surgery caused by repetitious lifting of heavy truck tarps tarping flatbed loads. I was awarded OWCB judgement amount of $90K, but only actually compensated me $12,675 which is still owed to me but I know will never recieve nor do I care about. I have never "scammed" or filed any fraudulent Worker's Compensation Claim against any company! I am very thankful for recovering years ago after back surgery to repair my back and I have been employed by many Trucking Companies throughout many years including my current Truck Driver job employer whom would challenge the bad comment made by "Anonymous" and verify me to be a benefit as a company employee. Obviously " fraud- Anonymous" has not the honesty to even type their true identity name. Hmm, wonder why? I am just an average American Citizen working to earn a living like most common folk. Glad to be who I am. Amen

I have only been injured once performing my duties as a truck driver, I sustained low back injury from over exerting from repetitively lifting/maneuvering heavy truck tarps which caused disk herniation of L3-L4 of my spine resulting in surgery to repair from my employment with Smalley Trucking-Sutherlin, Oregon in 2002. Not a scam "Anonymous"! However I was awarded OWCB judgement amount of $90k in 2004, whereas dba: Smalley Trucking only actually paid me $12,675 of this amount which the remainder is still owed to me, but I know this company will never honor and pay and I really don't care about! Otherwise, A & M Transport, Inc- Glendale, Oregon is the only other trucking company which I've sadly had the misfortune to have worked for in which I was purposefully harassed by Safety Officer "Hanks Perry" in 2001, which I quit due to the harrassment which I later discovered was due to a hateful grudge that the Owner "Andy Owens" had against my two Uncle's " Earl & Chuck Bock" for firing (terminating employment) him as a heavy equipment operator at logging site...decades before Mr. Owens began his Trucking business, I guess that's probably who "Anonymous" really is, and he's still picking on me to get back at my Uncle's actions which took place while I was only a young child living in San Diego, CA and if this berating me online makes him feel satisfied at hurting my family, well so be it. I know I have done no wrong but to defend myself as most anyone else would do if placed in this predicament. My husband would agree with me, he was employed by Mr. I Owens as a truck driver for 14 years and is glad that he left for very good reasons! My article mainly was to point out the hardships that women face in a male dominated industry, and any lady trucker driving team with their spouses would probably also agree about the effects of being cooped up in a semi truck has on two people. Both I and my spouse are still driving team long haul together and as of yesterday, our 15th Wedding Anniversary, we still love each other even under stressful times spent together.

Shirley has scammed and damaged more trucking companies than you can guess...
Always looking for a workman comp award or extorting the business for alleged wrongs against herself.
A liar and sociopath
