Be Careful if you have to haul loads from Total Quality Logistics (TQL)

My Husband and I picked up one load last week and were sent to the next stop where we called the broker (TQL) and told then that the shipper was not only not ready for shipping but not open for the year yet . their reply was we know they are open we ship out of there every week so just sit and wait.

we contacted the shipper to call TQL and let them know that they where not open for the year yet . after being there for 6 hours and being told several time to sit and wait they finally figured out that some truckers do know what we are talking about .

so then we where set to load in another location . loading at 5 pm told that shipper that we thought we would be to heavy .the shipper sent us 6 miles to the nearest scale sure enough was over loaded.

when we got back to the shipper they had all went home not to return till the next day. after a long lay over and getting the load to legal weight and on the road made contact with the broker. the broker told me that he would be getting us some money for detention.

well there was no money for us so we sat for nothing . all i can say for this broker and firm that he works for is that they like a lot of other ones will screw you in the end will lie to you just to get there product to the buyers at any cost.

so to advise any one tha deals with the brokers at TQL if they promise you any thing make them put it in writing and fax it to you .

not releasing payment and making excuse that buyer wants to claim on it for not early delivery NEW
by: Anonymous

My company haul load for TQL it has 4 pics from california going to Jacksonville FL and from there it is to be shipped to puerto Rico. My driver done with 3 picks and then arrived san diego 1 hour late on friday because of traffic and shipper said we r closed come back on monday. we called TQL tell them the situation and they start cursing and saying why are u late we dont care if there is traffic delay why are u late ? they even dont know shipper is open on saturday or not. My driver planned to stay over there at shipper parking lot and keep waiting for morning and then saturday morning shipper shows up and driver went inside for check in and driver turn on recording on his phone and shipper told him that the product is not here yet it is coming from mexico so we dont know when mexico truck shows up (all conversation is recorded in the phone ) and ask driver to wait for a while than driver told shipper that i have to deliver this on tuesday at jacksonville FL and he is driving SOLO and shipper said talk to your broker we dont care and even buyer knows this that product is not here from Mexico to be load on your truck. Then i call TQL after hours and then she called broker and put me on conference and broker (NICK) said u missed yesterday thats why they put that load on some other truck and u have to wait for another load and i dont have any money to pay detention because your truck arrived late and then he added $100 and said wait till the mexico truck arrived but this product has to be there on tuesday by any means. I told him that i have a solo on this truck but i request my driver to try his best if he can after getting loaded by the time he have plenty of hours to drive.
then in the evening broker called me and ask me to start your truck without loading this pick and my driver starts and then shipper start saying my driver u cant leave product will be here in a bit but broker asked him to leave so my driver left from there at 6:30 pm and in less than 15 minutes broker called me again to go back and pick up what they have in their warehouse and my driver said how can i make 2500 miles in 48-50 hours legally then broker said they need this load by tuesday then i asked broker we can do our best but everybody knows its not possible then my driver went back and get loaded 117 cases and start from there at 7:45 pm and then he keep going going and broker calling after every 2 hours and i keep him updated then driver got stopped at florida agriculture department and get inspected for produce load.He missed another 45 minutes over there and then he arrived Jacksonville at 3 pm EST and no body is there and then they came back in the morning and check in guy shows real mad on driver that u are suppose to be here yesterday and driver told him everything but he said we dont care just go back on this door number and keep your door closed and driver keep sitting over there for 4-5 hours and nobody come to get him and driver went back in again and they said we are doing some paperwork for your load when we are done with this we come and get you so driver came out and after another hour or so the guy came out and ask driver to open the doors and back it up then they unload him and give him clean BOL 's and then i send all the paperwork to TQL for 7 day quick pay and it still showing PREPARING FOR PAYMENT WAITING ON BROKER CONF # and then i keep calling broker everyday and he is saying me that buyer wants to claim because u are late 1 day and not releasing the payment
we have recording of conversation between driver and shipper that load is not here when driver checked in on friday after 6 pm and buyer knows that product not arrived at the shipper yet
but still TQL trying to be oversmart
dont ever work with them even if u have to stay 1-2 days at the truck stop without load
give some suggestions if u have on this deal

thanks
god bless u all and TQL too to be fair and nice and dont cheat anyone

thanks again

As a shipper I HATE dealing with TQL! Very rude CSR's that are unresponsive to emails, and when the do respond they haven't even read them. I urge all of my customers not to use them. As soon as I can get Amazon to drop them for my shipments, hopefully I will never deal with them again. Hats off to all the drivers that have to deal with them!!

TQL has some nerve! NEW
by: Anonymous

after hours of looking at the load board for my driver with no luck or many with promises of a load but then to call back with saying "sorry its gone" even though its on the board, i booked a load with TQL,but found another load that paid much better about 2 mins later (not the best or most polite thing to do i know, but gotta go where the money is at). we called TQL back, apologized for no longer needing the load and thanked them for their time. the broker said OK, and hung up. 5 mins later another broker calls me, says i booked a load with his assistant but have cancelled and asked me why i didn't want the load. then he proceeds to rip me a new *** hole telling me that i have screwed him for the day. he then tells me he only has an hour to find a taker for the load, that i have screwed him over. i again apologized, told him that i understood because it had happened to me all day. he then said good, glad it comes full circle, then hung up on me.
this happened to me earlier in the week as well when i called on a load put in an offer and the broker said he would call back, nothing was set in stone! i moved on, expecting no call back because they rarely do, i had found another load for my driver. TQL calls back, and was pissed that i didn't want the load. i didn't book it, it wasn't set in stone, and then chewed me out, and hung up.
what kind of customer service is that, seriously? its the trucking business, no one makes money if trucks aren't moving, and frankly I'm not sitting around waiting to be turned down. TQL has some of the rudest people i have ever talked to. i cannot believe a company will call you, be absolutely rude to you, and then have nerve to tell you "you know this goes against you right?"
There needs to be a site to make marks against brokers, broker firms, agents, what have you, so that it shows up in a way that it does when they mark against the company or driver. if there one already, i am unaware...

DONT WORK WITH TQL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEW
by: Anonymous

I move a load for tql. My
truck and trailer flip over, And instead of them being understanding and trying to work with us.
they started threating us, Saying that we still need to make this delivery on time!, If not we were going to get fined $4000!....
So we had one of our trucks move the product and make the delivery, and surprisingly enough none of the product was damage because it was light and they were stack to the top.
The insurance took care of the customer directly and the damages were minor, but tql to make money open a claim saying the whole load was damage and the value was $150,000. so my insurance adjuster ask if he can see the product to confirm, they responded with only 4 picture and that the rest of the load was moved to Mexico.
To top it off they put a hold on our money for 5 of our loads.
So please take this as a heads up,DONT WORK WITH T.Q.L.

Hauled a load of meat out of NC for them to the Atl area was sent to a second dest. They paid $50.00 extra for extra stop then are now refusing to pay the unloading charge even though they physically had the recidpt in there office within 6 hrs of unloading notification. Their own contract says it has to be notified within
3 days. So why aren't they paying is my question? Is anyone else out there thinking about bringing suit against them please post something .

title NEW
by: Anonymous

Can't comment on TQL (do know plenty that worked there) but as a former broker I wish I had 8-5 days..1st problem I saw is most brokers don't know anything about a truck, driving or un/loading (I started off on a loading dock). Second is that brokers aren't making $500-1000 off the load..$150 to %10 on a load is typical for dry load.
3rd. Our customers are whoring out their freight to low bid (I'd get rate/load requests with 50 other brokers on the email list!- deleted those)..Also too many clients don't know what's going on with their own loads..somebody wants load to move but hasn't checked with pick/drop locations, as broker I spent way too much time trying to get all the pieces of puzzle put together..clients don't want to hear about detention (gee they waited 6 hrs-big deal) or about proper loading and weight...You should deal with brokers who know their shippers and Communicate any detention, accessorial to be clear before moving truck.

TQL Issues NEW
by: jeri

I have used TQL for brokering loads for my truck for several years and for the most part have been satisfied with the agents and services they provide. Although I don't like having to negotiate rates with them (because I'm certain they want to maximize their cut) they have never failed to pay within 28 days and I've rarely had a significant problem with a load or paperwork. For the most part I think the negotiation of rates should not be something owner/operators/drivers should have to deal with. It would be nice to have an acceptable per mile rate set by some industry standard or even the government that all brokerages have to pay. It sure would take away some stress.

This place is not what I thought it would be NEW
by: Former TQL employee

I recently worked for TQl but was not a broker i worked in night dispatch handling calls when the brokers went home. When I first got hired I was thrilled I was so happy to be working again after being a stay at home mom for years and felt so proud of myself when I got hired. Well I was in for a surprise and I am so glad I don't work there anymore. First let me say I really feel so sorry for some of the drivers and how they were treated. I took my job very seriously and the way I looked at it was that without the carriers how could there be a TQL so to me even though I was warned that I would sometimes deal with rude truck drivers that would be nasty and rude to me I felt that my job was to ensure that they were happy and respected and that really wasn't my problem it didn't bother me when the drivers were mad because 90% of the time they had a reason to be.OVer and over again i heard the same complaint from drivers which was that the brokers lied and lied because all they cared about was making their money and I can not tell you how frustrating it was to want to help but because I wasnt a broker and it wasn't my load there wasn't really much I could do but I would put all my effort into calling shippers or recievers to find out what was going on with a load or calling the broker but see TQL has a rule that in night dispatch you were supposed to be handling atleast 17-23 calls an hour which gives you a time limit of about 3mins for each call that comes in. TO me that was almost impossible because most calls were not just simple hey i'm loaded everything is good or hey i'm empty and everything is all good. And how i looked at it when a driver called in with a problem my job and the companys job was to ensure that whatever the issue be we should be doing everything in our power to fix it. Well the LS2(managers) had to meet a certain amount of calls from there workers a service level basically otherwise they would get chewed out so they were always hounding you about your calls per hour and telling you it's not enough you are on the phone too long you need to be handling more calls. To me it made me mad i thought my job was to ensure the best customer service but they cared more about quanity versus quality. The final blow for me was some of the down right asshole brokers who treated you like shit and i was just out of training and still getting my footing but man if you didn't do something the sec they wanted it or took a min too long on the phone lets just say I have never ever in my life been talked to like that by a fellow employee i was called a stupid ass, dumb ass, hung up on etc. like i said it didn't bother me when a carrier was pissed but to have someone you work with talk down to you like that i just couldn't believe it. The pay for my position was great and great benefits but I don't miss that place one bit all they care about is getting there money and I don't blame some drivers for never wanting to work with TQL again.

TQL will bleed you dry if you fight them in court NEW
by: Anonymous

We have been in a legal battle with TQL for almost 3 yrs.We have hired 2 attorneys at $10,250.000 to fight a bogus claim. They say we didn't deliver the load..but we have pics,BOL and every single email sent back and forth. They took the load and sold it for $8000.00(we also have that proof). The load was worth $19,000.00 but they didn't sell it for that amount. Now they are suing for $13,000..the remainder. They first place the claim here in Fl where we are based..then after a year in court, they saw they were losing..so they dismissed the claim.Only to open another claim in their hoetown Ohio 3 months later.Now..we are fighting this one and counter claiming.Oh..did I mention they also cancelled payment of 5 completed loads because of this claim? They do this to little carrier companies all the time. They will make them waste money on attorney fees till they can't pay anymore..so they give up.Be very careful with this company.Get everything in writing and use emails to communicate with their brokers. It's a way to cover you behind.

i was in Florida on a load for HM Bay,i was trying to get a return load back north though tql after the 4th canceled load back and forth from delray-pompano they got me a load out of indiantown, fla.
when the shipper loading me i got a call from tql waiting for approval to leave with the because my reefer doesn't have a chute.when i then told the shipper you should have told me about the chute issue before they loaded me they just looked crossed eyed at me.

I find all your comments very interesting.
We have worked with TQL for two years.
When a problem has arose and we phoned the
broker they were more than willing to help
fix the problem. They have even compensated us for having to set. As fellow truckers we have been in the trucking industry for over
40 years and have dealt with some real interesting brokers and different trucking
companies. We know about being screwed over by brokers and fellow truckers.
So don't just accuse one broker when there
alot more out there that you are not telling us about.

Crappy way to run a business NEW
by: Anonymous

We have loaded for TQL a total of three times. Every single load has been a problem sometimes waiting three days in a hay field at 100 degrees. Other times when we got to the delivery point the customer was not ready to receive. I understand complications every now and then, but not every load. Even changing delivery locations once the freight was on the truck. Last time I even commented to the agent that he should go to work with another brokerage. At one point the agent disappeared and when he re-appeared he said he had to go to NY to check on his mother. I believe he was so stressed about how this was going that he just stop receiving my calls. So beware when doing business with this brokerage it has been the worst run business we have ever done work for.

NEVER WORK WITH TQL AGAIN NEW
by: Dan

Hauled load of cabbages from CO to FL. Broker said the load has been ready and has to be picked up ASAP. Got to shipper and waited 5 hours to get loaded. Drove to FL. Dispatch and Broker called every 2 hours to get current location. I'm ok with that but when they called you 20 times its too much. Finally when got to receiver - receiver was not ready to accept the load. Came back next day. Same issue - receiver worked until noon and after did not accept any loads. They did not care if someone left unserved. The day after waited another 5 hours to get unloaded.
No even single word about detention from broker.
And this is not the first time. Have few more stories when they cancelled load when truck was at the shipper.
Some brokers there are good. But most of them are just scammers.
TQL is the last company I will choose if no other options - but before will think twice.

More CAUTIONS NEW
by: Anonymous

Thanks Fellow Trucker
Horror stories we have found out by being in their midst. EuClaire Ws has lots of loads coming into it from Western SD. Inconsiderate on both ends. Wait for hours and try to overload to the max everytime. So when dealing with loads from or to Menards be forewarned or getting loads out of Dakota Panel of Rapid City,SD
Be careful when dealing with Pyramid Logistics of Rapid City or Reynolds Logistics . They too have not always been what they seem or should be for the trucker or fleet owner. Be very Cautious!

EVERY OTHER LOAD GETS CANCELLED WITH THE EXCUSE THAT THE CUSTOMER CANCELLED IT.. WE ARE DONE WITH THEM!!

Appreciate my drivers NEW
by: Anonymous

I work for TQL and I appreciate all the drivers that haul for me. We are not scam artists. We are very driven professionals that are given a lot of freedom to run our business. With this freedom there will be obvious abuse but we try to weed the unethical brokers out. I admit co-workers have mistreated carriers and if I witness it I report them to management. We are nothing without our carrier base. If you want to fault us for having a nice building (we don't own the building behind us by the way, it's a medical device company) and moving 16,000 loads a week then I don't know what to say, we work very hard too. I do understand its in a nice environment and not out on the road. I could never do what my drivers do and be away from family and driving non stop. I would have no employment and I couldn't provide for my family without our drivers hard work. Thank-you!

TQL is a scam NEW
by: Anonymous

I worked for TQL for over a year, I can tell that it is a scam! We were taught and encouraged to cheat a carrier out of money. I watched as the second biggest broker there, would cheat a carrier out of TONU and if he could not deny them the money that was owed to them he would just ignore their calls and make his trainees flat out lie to them. The broker would deny a TONU to a carrier then turn around and bill the customer for the TONU and keep the money. I also seen TQL have people search the internet for any negative comments written about the company and tell us to respond with how great the company is. One of the biggest things TQL will do to a carrier is tell them the load was cancelled. Rarely did a load get cancelled they just found a cheaper carrier to do the load, and also this practice was encouraged on every load booked.

Quality. HA!HA! NEW
by: Anonymous

I am from southern Ohio and like everyone else here we have all been screwed by TQL. I have friends that are owed thousands of dollars some for over 5 years now. They have ruined all the good freight around here. I had just seen a job posting on Craigs List for a company that stated they treated all truckers and employees fairly and in capital letters it said WE ARE NOT TQL. If you would like to see something that will make you even more mad go by the 65 exit(rte.32) and look at the fancy TQL building and the twin building they own right behind it. I had a friend of mine that went to work there under a broker and was making over $50k and loved her job until she found out how they lied and cheated truckers out of money and she quit! Tons of good brokers around Cinci. just not at Eastgate!!!

Truckers Beware NEW
by: Dee

I hire truckers every day. We treat them like gold because they keep us in business. Please don't ever accept a load from TQL. These people are scam artists. They call constantly to demand that we hire them. I would rather pay double the amount of money to a real truck driver than ever deal with TQL again. They believe I'm a customer, if they treat me this badly, I can't imagine how they treat a trucker. Stay as far away from TQL as you possibly can. Horrible company, just horrible.

Out for what they can get from you. NEW

T.Q.L. is up to 78 days in paying their bills. Be careful. My factoring co. told me when it hit 80 days it would begin coming out of my funding.

TQL issue NEW
by: Anonymous

I second that comment about not trusting TQL. We were dispatched to pickup a load of "lumber" that turned out to be a huge load of logs and we don't have a log truck so we couldn't haul them. And the broker, Ryan, was rude to me over it telling me I made his "customer mad". Of course I had to find another load. The only one I could find nearby was listed on the board as to be picked up in a town 50 miles away. When I called to inquire it was Ryan again who said that was the same log load and that he had placed to pickup place in several towns because it "broadened" his chances of getting a truck. I'm done with them.

Well, the big question is? That,or they don't have good training or they don't CARE about this business that involve thousands of dollars in the trucking industry, and the sad part is that, they know how much money the carrier have to invest in his,her business and the giant responsibility that this business involve, and they don't want to give nobody, the pay they deserve. That's my opinion. Good look my brothers and sisters!!!!.

strange, you must have had an inexperienced broker at tql. i used them a lot they were usually so good at preplanning us with out any delays. we would call them when loaded at point a and let them know where point b was and what time load would be off.
always got paid in timely fashion
