Hello, I haven't been a trucker very long, in fact I need to be trained for OTR I was trained at ddia in Shreveport La.

I got a class a cdl, graduated on April 23, 2010.

I got my first trucking job in July and I was very proud when I got it but it really didn't help me at all in fact it took everything good in my life away.

This is what happened, the company that gave me the job sent me out on my very first run all by myself let me remind you DDAi only teaches you how to drive a big truck so here I am all alone and dont know really what to do. They told me that i would only be running local and I wouldn't ever have to lay over just for the first few months so that I could get the hang of it.

Well, Monday morning i am ready to get going, my truck was already loaded it needed to be taken to Grapevine TX. and no Grapevine is not local from Magnolia Ar. and just to let you know all the facts about this run that was soon to be a nightmare :

(1.) I didn't have anything to drink or eat in my truck.

(2.) I had less then $20.00 on me.

(3.) I had forgotten my car charger for my phone and my phone was going dead.

(4.) I had a tire blow out on my trailer on my way.

(5.)I get in Dallas TX. and I start losing air and I mean a lot of air I would have to stop and build my air up or i would loss all breaks.

(6.) I was already nervous as hell and I was getting myself a little lost because I thought I had past my turn up but just hadn't gone up enough streets, two to be exact, and when I saw my turn I got myself a little over excited and my trailer pulled to close to the curb and the tire that had blown out earlier got me stuck on the curb and would not move at all.

(7.) The Cops,Firefighters, and Ambulance where called.

(8.)They blocked the streets for me and I finally got the truck to move .

(9.) Then the cops didn't want me to move the truck because they seen how much air the truck was losing.

(10.) Then I get a call wheres my shipment it was suppose to be here at 2pm, my dispatch told me that the shipment had no set time when I left the base that
morning.

(11.)Then another call where you at are you coming to get this shipment what shipment you are supposed to be in Shreveport La, taken shipment to Stonewall La,

(12.) This hole time I was going to Grapevine TX, The computers have me in Shreveport La, and yes Shreveport La, is local from Magnolia Ar,

and just to sum this up I drove home after I made the drop the next morning I called my job to see where they wanted me to go next and my boss tells me just come on in to the yard so that is what I did and I went in to turn all paper work in I seen my boss and I played a little with him saying damn you could have told me it was going to be hell my first time out and he replied well it really wasn't suppose to be like that and he went on about with his job. Later on about 1 1/2 hrs. I am waiting on them to tell me were I would be going next, here comes my boss again he looks at me and says April I think we gonna have to let you go,and I replied okay sir well i sure thank you for given me the opportunity to work for you.

My dad is a truck pusher for an oil company out of Magnolia Ar. same town as the company i had worked for and my dad and my boss new each other well dad seen him up town at lunch and dad ask him why did he let me go and my boss told him he just thinks i need to be trained a little more for OTR and when i get trained just come on back and I could have my job again.

The thing is now I am not considered a student driver anymore since i was hierd and then let go so none of the companys that do train will hire me.

SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET ON WITH A COMPANEY THAT WILL SHOW ME THE WAYS OF A TRUCKER PLEASE DO BECAUSE I AM HAViNg TO PAY OFF MY SCHOOL LOAN OF $10,000 FOR A TRADE THAT SEEMS USELESS TO ME AT THIS TIME PLEASE HELP ME BE ABLE TO DO WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF DOING TAKEN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MY DADDY I AM A 29 YEAR OLD FEMALE THAT WILL WORK MY ASS OFF JUST TO SEE MY DREAM BECOME A REALITY MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS: daddysliltrucker@ymail.com thanks a lot for just taken a min. out of your time to read my nightmare.

Ewen in scandinavia truckdriwers must know ewerything befour they jump in the truck, it is like to be a robot, know how ewery thing works befour you sit down inside the truck, where to call if you need help and so on, i meen you must know what to do ewen if you are a beginner ! I think it sucks,it is a hole lot to know and of cours the companys want to earn fast money ewery day so they try to get expirienst driwers in stead but if someone quits then someone must take ower and 1 of them is you, i am glad to see woman driwers that manage a truck and ewery thing with that ! Just a swedish truckdriwer that wants to help you! Take care and use your head! Greetings from Anders

One thing we all teach students is not to drive outside of your skill set. Losing the first trucking job you ever had was unishment enough. So I am not going to beat you up. I suggest you go out with one of the carriers I listed on "the best fleets to drive for." There you will be trained properly by a seasoned OTR driver, gain the 24 months experience necessary to move into either a unionized or local trucking company. Best of luck. 10-4.
