anyone received a ticket from DOT for non-seatbelt use when you were actually wearing a seatbelt

by Mary
(Kansas City, MO)

My son is a Class A Semi-truck driver and was given a ticket in Kansas City by Missouri DOT for not wearing a seat belt.

He put his seat belt on before he left the yard and was wearing it when he was stopped. Is there anyway to fight this?

Response to ticket from DOT for non-seatbelt
by: Mary

It seems that there were several truckers in the courtroom but the officer from Kansas City Police Department did not show.

All charges were dismissed for all that were given tickets for non-seatbelt use. The truckers were wearing seat belts but were still ticketed.

Looked like KC was just trying to make some extra money from truckers.

Seatbelt tickets in the truck
by: Hervy

Hi Mary,

That sounds a little strange.

Care to elaborate.

If the seat belt was on but worn improperly, he could also get a ticket. Don't know if that was the case.

He could go to court but usually they won't budge on a seat belt ticket.
