Another drivers fine deducted from my pay

I'm a trainer for a company. I had a trainee who got an overweight citation, his name and license are the only one on the citation yet the company deducted the fine from my pay. Is this legal?? No they did not consult me about it just deducted it.

Yes you are responsible for everything that trainee does as long as he is with you to learn the game

Yes I was with the trainee the load was preloaded and they don't allow weigh out at this shipper in fact not even allowed to be on the trailer ( flatbed)

1) Were you with the "trainee?

2) Did you show the trainee how to load at this particular site?

3) Was there a scale where the trainee loaded and had you been there with 'said' trainee?

There has to be some logic behind why the company fined YOU!
