Hello,

Iam a recruiter for a Truck Driving School in Atlanta, Ga. We specialize in helping people get their Class A CDL and helping them get placed into a job. If you are someone who wants CDL Training and you have a felony we can help you!

First, you know you have a record. Don't conceal it thinking you are going to get away with it. Tell the school that you are attending or trying to attend. The school should tell you if your convictions will affect your job placement.

If you are honest you will get an honest answer. We place 96% of our students into a job immediately upon placement. Consider that most truckers have something on their record and that if you can just get 1 company to give you a chance and hang in there with that company for 1 year, Your driving experience will then outway your criminal past.

Keep your head up, the national carriers will probably all say "NO" b/c they have to insure you and the cargo. The carriers that do hire felons are usually really strict about your driving record.

I have 3 felonies on my record, I just completed my cdl road test in Brunswick, Ga. I took a 7and half week class at OTC. Great training there and I look to have a job pretty soon. You just gotta stay focus and BELIEVE!!!

Its amazing this society expects offenders to be productive but don't want to give second chances. And u wander why there are soo many repeat offenders. Got caught w drugs as a teenager and I'm pushing thirty and still can't find good job join the military or anything that's a promising career. Hello,
I feel everyones pain, and it is hard when sociaty makes you dis functional. Because of your past situations. I have a number of felonies,starting from 1984 for a crime that i never committed, but my sons mother lied on me to keep me for taking him in a custody fight. I been having my CDL's since 1991 i have been working some of the most crappie jobs because no one wants to touch a felon. I was again in 2006 placed on Probation because i left one state to live a better life, and come to find out my parole wasnt over, and i failed to register. I really find that their isnt a brake for us. The more we try to become productive in socity to change there is always someone wanting to put their foot on our head. But i say this lets keep trying and lets, not give up. I will continue to look,and i know that there is someone out there that will take a chance.

If you live in Arizona and have been convicted of a felon or more I have found two companies so far that will hire 7 years from conviction date instead of release date they are knight transportation which also provides training and CRST which also provides training that is all I have found so far I am looking in other states so if any one knows of companies that will train and hire under 7 years please post the name so I can look it up and put in an application thank you.

Veteran VRAP NEW

The new VRAP program for ex-offenders Veterans has funding and programs that are better than the Pell and WIA Grants. As far as specific Carrier names, see your VRAP recruiter. I know all the driver operators with Coastal, (driving tankers to Luke AFB), etc. all have misdemeanors, not sure about felonies. Don't give up. If you want to get out driving, many companies hire felons if you have knowledge and experience.

I was released from prison July 4th, 2008 I was convicted of armed robbery February 19th of 2008. I graduated from an accredited truck driving school March of this year. I have tried every website I can find and its always not enough experience or my conviction is not old enough. I have found a company that says the will hire me in February when my conviction is 5 years old. I need to be trained before going OTR. I can't wait til February. I need a job now trucking school bills are still coming even if I don't have a job. Does anyone have any company that will give me a 2nd chance.

I have a friend that drives for a company that hires Indepenant Contractors. He said they did not ask about any arrest history any where on the application. You have to sign a 10-99 form and pay your own insurance and lease ($300.00) a week, but he still gets a weekly check between $800 & $1200 It is giving him a chance to get back into trucking and gain recent otr experience. I know of numerous companies that have offered to get him back behind the wheel if he can get six months recent experience and that is all he is using this company for. If you live close to Fontana CA. Look for a company called Best 1 Transport. It is for the most part all teams and and mostly SO. Cal. to N.J. N.Y or W.V. and back to SO. Cal. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone, I was released from federal prison in 2009, I obtained my 2yr degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology, and since graduation I have been running into companies that refuse to hire w/felony convictions. Try Carolina Cargo! They accept most everyone that has a CDL. It will be hard to find a job in this industry until the DUI is at least 5 years old. I am sorry. I know that's not what you wanted to hear. But if you try the websites in my article you may come up with something. Another good website to go to is hammerlanejobs.com with only 1 application to fill out it sends your application to 750 companies. Try it. Let me know how your journey comes along

What about a driver with a dui that is more than three years old? I have been in touch with some companies that have said that they did not have a problem with a dui, but they could not hire me because I don't have a year recent driving time. Is there any companies that you know of that will work with situation? Thanks.
